Gift of the Year Awards 2006
Growaforest is proud to announce that they received a special commendation as finalists in the 2006 Gift of the Year Awards.

This is the 5th awards nomination for Growaforest, who were short listed in the ‘Gifts Under £10’ category.

There were over 15 categories in the competition including; wellbeing, fashion, art and celebration. The national competition, which is organised and run by The Gift Association, strives to promote excellence in the UK’s gift industry. Over 1500 applications were made for the 2006 Awards for a wide selection of gift companies from all over the United Kingdom.

IKB Awards 2006
Growaforest made it to the finals of the IKB Awards 2006 to take second place in the category of ‘Young Company’.

The IKB Awards was a national competition, organised by Brunel University in association with Ideas21, to celebrate the bicentenary of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The competition was sponsored by IMechE, Specialist Schools Trust, IMI Vision, Close Venture Management, The IEE and IVECO.

With four separate awards for Innovation, Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Young Companies, the IKB Awards had over 1000 entries with Growaforest called out for its not-for-profit, volunteer based approach.

Startups Awards 2005
Growaforest has been presented with the ‘Community Impact Award’ at the 2005 Startups Awards, hosted at the Royal Kensington Hotel, London.

The Award is part of the overall Startups Awards 2005 where 13 separate award categories mark major achievements of fledgling UK businesses. Growaforest beat over four hundred and seventy entrants throughout the UK - a massive achievement!

Growaforest would like to thank the team of judges who presented them with this prestigious award. A team of well-respected individuals including Michael Murphy, CEO of Friends Reunited, Sahar Haschemi, Founder of Coffee Republic, David Lester, Founder of Crimson Business and many more. All tough judges who know what it takes to create a successful business.

“As a not-for-profit organisation we’re absolutely delighted to have won this award”, said founder and director Christian Woolfenden. “It’s a real boost for the team of Growaforest volunteers who sacrifice their spare time for no other reward than seeing new woodland areas created across the UK. We’re really proud!”

Growaforest were up against a selection of fantastic companies for the final prize, each covering very unique markets.

Last year the prestigious ‘Community Impact Award’ was won by ‘Goingreen’, who then went on to win the top prize of ‘Business of the Year’ beating over 250 entrants for the title.

Telegraph Business Awards 2005
Growaforest is delighted to announce that our director Christian Woolfenden was a finalist in the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ at the Jaeger Le Coultre Telegraph Business Awards 2005. Christian made it to the final 3 – an incredible achievement.

The Award is part of the overall Le Coultre Telegraph Business Awards 2005, where 5 separate award categories mark major achievements of UK business leaders. Growaforest was short listed from hundreds of entrants throughout the UK - a considerable achievement given the tough competition!

“As a not-for-profit organisation competing against some of the big business names in the UK, we’re thrilled to have got so far in this competition”, said founder and director Christian Woolfenden. “It’s a great achievement and it just goes to show that you don’t need big salaries and overheads to run a successful organisation – you just need passion and a great team. All the praise has to go to the Growaforest volunteers; there’s an enormous amount of energy in the team and we’re really committed to achieving our goals!”

The Daily Mail 2005
Growaforest is proud to announce that they received a special commendation as finalists in the 2005 Daily Mail Enterprising Young Brits Awards.

This is the 3rd awards nomination for Growaforest, who were short listed for the Community & Social award category, the entry for which was presented to the Rt Hon Gordon Brown. Gordon Brown announced that all the finalists were winners: “You are all creating new opportunities and advancing new ideas to create an enterprising society; to get to the final in the face of such competition deserves to be rewarded.”

There were five categories in the Enterprising Young Brits Awards open to people aged 30 or under:

Business entrepreneur - open to anyone who has used their ideas to start their own business.
Community - for those whose ideas and enterprise have helped their community or society generally.
Creative - to recognise enterprise in the arts, fashion, etc.
Employee - aimed at anyone who has shown exceptional talent and innovation at work.
Teen - open to anyone under the age of 20 who has put a bright idea into action.
